One of the numerous benefits of traveling around the country is that you get to meet some great people. You also get to see some of the incredible talent that exists here in our great country. When you pair the two together you get to meet someone like John Jackson of NotStock Photography. If you haven’t checked out any of his fantastic work you should head immediately over to his Facebook page and look at the work he produces as he, like ourselves, travels the country in search of hot rods and bikes to shoot. Not only does he travel upwards of 60,000 miles a year, he does it in a Corvair van.
We had a chance to meet up in Phoenix, AZ. in 108 degree weather and that is when I learned that it had no A/C and topped out at 60mph. Talk about some serious dedication to the passion of what you do. The van is bagged with a custom paint job and a seriously cool interior that also doubles as a bit of a rolling art gallery for his photography. I caught him at around 7,000 miles into his current road trip which he generally does about 4 times a year. John is mostly interested in finding those unique rides that don’t get a lot of press but are equally as cool and important as the stuff rolling out of bigger shops. This requires traversing the entire country in search of great people, cool cars, and great backgrounds. Now if I can only catch him on his next trip through Utah for a certain BMW 2002…..

Amazing video. Amazing guy. Who wouldn’t want to take photos of cars all their life!
This kind of passion really inspires us.
Good job on the video.
Yet another great installment to the series you guys have been developing. I am truly in aw of the way you have put it all aside to do this for a year.
Great work again Josh. Very inspiring.
I would love a link to some of his work!
Haha nevermind. I’m stupid.

Those who spoke before me nailed it: this video is full of inspiration. Think about all the people who are stuck behind a desk, in a factory, or some other job that lack passion. This man goes out and makes it happen for himself, following his passion and probably making it happen for others who, as he said, may not have gotten press coverage due to their size. The world needs more people in Corvair vans…
Kinda cool that he is looking for fun stuff to shoot. However, trumpeting 60K miles a year as something ‘special’ is a joke for those of us outside of Manhattan. I’ve never ever done less than 60K miles a year since I was 16 – and I’m 46. I’ve done 2K miles in 24 hours more times than I can count. Just going to your school/business and putting around is easily 170 miles per day. Far more if you aren’t working at a desk.
If you actually “love cars” and “love to drive” you clock 60K miles in your sleep.
This is my favorite video.
